2025 is well and truly underway, and so are some of the hottest restaurant openings for this year. With Brisbane fast becoming the ultimate foodie hotspot, it’s hard to keep up with where to try next…the list just keeps growing! Not that we’re complaining. In fact, we love it so much that we’ve done all the guesswork for you and rounded up this month’s hottest new openings.

BRISBANE

Stilts

Perched ten metres above the Brisbane River on the Kangaroo Point Bridge, you’ll find Stilts – Brisbane’s first-ever restaurant on a bridge. With killer views and an upscale ambience, the restaurant celebrates Australian land and sea with a menu that highlights fresh, locally sourced produce. Whether you’re toasting at sunset or indulging in a long lunch, Stilts offers a dining experience like no other.

Cartel Del Taco

Known for serving up Brisbane’s best tacos, Cartel Del Taco has brought its authentic Mexican street taqueria to New Farm. Straight out of 1980s Mexico City, every detail stays true to tradition – from the handmade plates to the perfectly crafted margaritas. Expect real Mexican street food at its finest, with tacos, share plates, guisados, and desserts. But it doesn’t stop at the – Cartel Del Taco specialises in mezcal and tequila-infused cocktails, alongside Mexican tap beer and classic cocktails. Whether you’re after an evening fiesta or just the perfect taco, this New Farm hotspot delivers the real deal.

Layla & Tom’s Kitchen

Some of 2025’s most exciting foodie news? Melbourne hospitality giant Shane Delia is bringing his first Brisbane venue to none other than the Thomas Dixon Centre. His highly anticipated restaurant, Layla, will dish up Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine in a beautifully designed space featuring a moody, intimate dining room and a sun-drenched courtyard. But that’s not all – Delia’s expansion doesn’t stop there. Alongside Layla, The Delia Group is also launching Tom’s Kitchen, a cafe-style eatery set within the home of the Queensland Ballet. Opening on 12 March, Tom’s Kitchen will serve a bold, produce-driven menu, perfect for everything from quick bites to leisurely brunches. With two exciting new venues on the way, it looks like Brisbane has a fresh dining hotspot in the making!

Sticky Beak Wine Bar

Looking for a new way to spice up wine night? Woolloongabba has just scored a self-serve wine bar where you can sip and sample with just the swipe of your car. At Sticky Beak Wine Bar, you can opt for a tasting, half glass, or full glass with 80 bottles on tap for you to try. Fire up the group chat – this is the perfect spot for your next girls’ night.

The Fifty-Six

The final stage of Naldham House’s luxe revamp is here, unveiling The Fifty-Six – a vibrant new Cantonese restaurant that is now open for business. Led by Chef Gerald Ong (of Mrs Wang and Lucky Duck fame), The Fifty-Six blends tradition with modern flair, celebrating the rich history of Chinese cuisine in Australia. Expect crystal skin Moreton Bay bug dumplings, wok-tossed Mooloolaba prawns with curry leaf and salted egg, and an expertly curated selection of dry-aged roast meats. Read more about it here.

Goros

But it’s time to swap envy for excitement because Tokyo’s vibrant nightlife is landing right here in Brisbane! Introducing Goros, Fortitude Valley’s hottest new opening. Expect a lineup of classic Japanese spirits, creative cocktails, and mouthwatering street food that’ll transport your taste buds to the bustling streets of Tokyo. Add in neon-lit décor and immersive vibes, and you’ve got a venue that’s pure magic. 

Lemak

Modern Malaysian restaurant and bar Lemak has made the move from East Brisbane to the vibrant heart of Woolloongabba – one of Brisbane’s hottest foodie destinations. Known for its bold, traditional flavours, Lemak is already drawing a crowd of eager locals. Whether you’re after a flavour-packed midweek dinner or a lively weekend feast with friends, this is one spot you’ll want on your radar.

Mugla Bills

Perched at the foot of the Kangaroo Point Bridge, where the City Botanic Gardens begin, Mulga Bill’s is more than a pit stop—it’s a destination. HUĀ 

 This Cantonese-inspired restaurant is the last venue to open in The Star’s luxury dining precinct The Terrace. HUĀ offers a traditional Cantonese dining experience, with prawn dumplings, deep-fried duck rolls, and seafood san choi bows. So many delicious options! And talk about being spoilt for choice, HUĀ is currently offering two menus! One is a dim sum menu, featuring steamed barbecue pork buns and pan-fried kimchi lamb dumplings. The other menu is a banquet menu, serving a curated selection that perfectly spotlights the star dishes.  

GOLD COAST

Bar Monte 

In a sea of trendy, “never-seen-before” spots, Bar Monte stands proudly by the classics – and it’s a refreshing breath of Italian air. Tucked in Miami, this neighbourhood gem serves simple, authentic Italian fare – think pasta, pizza, and good times, done right. From the team behind Light Years, Bar Monte adds style and soul to the Gold Coast. With interiors by Will Rathgeber, it’s an elevated yet laid-back trattoria with serious charm. Co-owners Kim Stephen, James Sutherland, and Lorenzo Toscani are just getting started – Bar Monte is a must for great food and a genuine vibe.  

Bobby Bangs

Matcha and sandos? Count me in! The co-owners of Mermaid Beach favourite Lucky Bao have opened their new daytime spot inside The Oxley at Nobby Beach. This fresh eatery serves up café classics with an Asian twist. Think breakfast ramen and Japanese-curry-topped scrambled eggs. Chef Daud has crafted a stellar all-day breakfast menu, available from 7.30am daily, along with shokupan sandos, rice bowls, salads, and noodle bowls for lunch. It’s simple science: You can’t have a bad day if it starts with Bobby’s Benny —featuring torched miso mayo, miso-glazed salmon — and a chilled iced almond matcha.

Gelato Gemelli

Sink your teeth into something a little sweeter without getting brain freeze – I dare you. That’s right, Brisbane and the Coast’s go-to Italian joint is stepping up their game this summer. Forget just pizza — this spot’s now serving up authentic Sicilian granita, creamy dairy-free gelato, zingy sorbetto, and the classic milk-based gelato you love, all made with top-tier ingredients. With 24 flavours on the roster, I know where I’ll be when the sun sets.

Norté + Sueño Rooftop

Nothing says summer like fierce Latin American flavours and a rooftop rendezvous! The talented teams behind Rick Shores, Brisbane’s Southside, and Central are serving up something special with two stunning concepts at The Oxley: Norté and Sueño. These Latin-inspired restaurants offer a dynamic mix of bold flavours, artisanal craft, and killer design. Meanwhile, the rooftop is the perfect spot to sip cocktails, soak up the sun, and keep the good times rolling!⁠
