A Swanky New Oyster Bar Is Coming To Byron Bay
Get shucked
There’s nothing quite as harmonious as eating seafood by the sea, and at Byron’s vibey new seafood destination, you can do just that.
Byron Bay Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant is set to open its doors on 15 October at Hotel Marvell, one of Byron’s most luxurious accommodations.
Drawing inspiration from the lively oyster bars of New England and New York, this new restaurant brings the best of the ocean straight to your plate, all while you soak up the chic, coastal vibes.
Let’s talk oysters
Let’s talk about the real stars of the show: the oysters. Sourced from across Australia and New Zealand, these beauties are as fresh as it gets, thanks to the restaurant’s massive land-based oyster tank. This bad boy can hold up to 6,000 oysters and uses local ocean water to cleanse and regenerate them. Oh, and did we mention there’s a live shucking station? Because watching your oysters get cracked open before your eyes is about as fresh as it gets.
The menu
While oysters take centre stage, the rest of the menu is just as impressive. Think raw bar delights, buttery lobster rolls, Fremantle octopus, lobster mornay, swordfish loin, and scallops dripping in garlic butter. You can check out the full menu here.
The space
Forget the typical bright and airy seafood restaurant – Byron Bay Oyster Bar & Seafood Restaurant flips the script with its rich, warm interiors. The indoor-outdoor space is decked out in earthy ochres, rust tones, and lush greenery, creating a modern, Instagram-worthy contrast to the ocean-fresh food. It’s stylish, unexpected, and totally Byron.
Open 7 days a week for lunch, and offering dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, this is the spot to be. Whether you’re dropping in for Oyster Hour (hello, $3 oysters between 5-6 pm!) or planning a long, leisurely lunch, this is your new excuse to head to Byron. Out-of-towners, consider this your sign to book a table – and maybe even stay the weekend. You can book your spot here!
