Brisbane’s Most Stylish Pastry Is Coming to King Street

Flaky, buttery & a little full of itself

We’ve found the ultimate treat worth ditching your diet for — and no, it’s not another cronut. Say bonjour to Queen Amann Bakery, the soon-to-open bakehouse in Bowen Hills that’s bringing serious French flair (and a touch of fashionable drama) to the Brisbane pastry scene.

Opening by the end of the month, Queen Amann Bakery will be serving up golden, caramelised kouign amann, fresh focaccia, sourdough sammies, and coffee that actually hits.

The crown jewel?

The Breton-born kouign amann (pronounced queen-a-mahn, merci). A pastry so unapologetically buttery and indulgent, it’s earned cult status in bakeries across Paris, New York — and now, Bowen Hills.

But don’t be fooled, this isn’t your average hole-in-the-wall bakery. The brains behind the biz? Larry Lim — fashion and travel influencer turned hospitality entrepreneur — who you’ve probably seen front row at Fashion Week or sipping negronis in Milan. Born and bred in Brisbane, Larry’s latest venture is closer to home but just as chic, teaming up with seasoned bakery talents Ania Kutek and Eddy Tice (of Sprout Artisan Bakery fame) to create something truly special.

“Knowing the King Street community has been waiting for a new bakery made this a no-brainer,” says Larry. “We’re excited to bring a little buttery joy to the neighbourhood — especially with our signature kouign amann, which is flaky, golden, and a little full of itself… in the best way.”

And it’s not just pastries on the menu. Expect daily-fresh sourdough, fluffy focaccias, hand-pressed juices, and barista-made specialty coffee. Whether you’re grabbing a take-home loaf, lingering over a croissant, or desperately in need of a strong latte and a quiet corner, Queen Amann is about to be your new go-to.

What’s inside?

The fit-out (of course) is as tasty as the menu: sleek, inviting, and quietly confident — a space that feels just as stylish as its founder. Think clean lines, neutral tones, and the scent of fresh bread wafting through the door daily.

While it’s still early days, word is already spreading — both on the street and online. With a name like Queen Amann and an Instagram quickly gaining traction, this bakery isn’t quietly joining Brisbane’s food scene — it’s arriving with confidence and croissants in hand.

Queen Amann Bakery opens end of May at King Street, Bowen Hills. Consider this your official heads-up — flaky goodness is coming.
