By Style Journos | 1st September 2025

Brisbane’s food scene is having a moment, and it’s only getting better. From chic champagne bars and Thai comfort cafes to moody wine joints and revamped rooftops, there’s something new opening on every corner. Whether you’re chasing the city’s best new restaurant, a weekend brunch spot, or late-night drinks with a twist, we’ve got your hit list covered. Here’s what’s new in Brisbane’s restaurants, cafes, and bars this month.

SEPTEMBER

Fellini’s

Think Howard Smith Wharves couldn’t get any better? Enter Fellini’s – the riverside hotspot bringing serious Italian flair this September. Set against Brisbane’s most iconic backdrop, Fellini’s is all about relaxed, high-energy dining with a street-food twist. The vibe? Fun, fast, and flavour-packed – whether you’re swinging by for a cheeky takeaway or settling in for a long riverside session. At the helm is Napoli-born Head Chef Carmine Guarino, who’s turning his dream project into reality with a menu designed for sharing, packed with authentic eats that channel the buzz of an Italian trattoria and the sunshine of the Amalfi Coast.

Marlowe

Marlowe, the latest opening from Fanda Group, is set to swing open its doors on Tuesday, 23 September – and trust us, it’s worth the wait. Tucked inside a heritage-listed 1938 apartment block once known as the Merivale Flats, the new bistro channels old-school charm with cosy dining rooms, stylish bar spaces, and hidden corners made for lingering. At the helm is Head Chef and Co-Owner Ollie Hansford, who’s bringing a menu inspired by vintage Aussie cookbooks with a fresh, seasonal twist, shaped by his close ties with local growers and makers.

Golden Avenue

From the team behind hôntô, sAme sAme, and Agnes comes Golden Avenue. Designed for long lunches that roll into lively dinners, the Middle Eastern inspired oasis is the perfect escape from the busy city. Offering a playful menu full of smoky theatrics, skylit interiors, and tiered gardens, Golden Avenue is the place for bold flavours and good times.

SUUM

Tucked away on Charlotte Street and only accessible via QR code, SUUM is an intimate 16-seat omakase where Seoul-born chef Andy Choi distils his Michelin-starred pedigree into a modern Korean experience. Blending tradition with molecular gastronomy, SUUM serves a fluctuating 16 to 20 course degustation for just $180 per person – it’s fine dining without the hefty price tag.

Clarence

Fish Lane’s latest arrival, Clarence, is bringing a taste of France to the southside. After relocating from Woolloongabba, the restaurant continues its focus on seasonal, ingredient-led cooking, paired with an all-Australian wine list. The new venue embraces a brasserie-style format infused with Brisbane’s relaxed charm and Queensland’s finest produce.

Wellington Road Bistro

Offering a warm and inviting atmosphere with timeless charm, Wellington Road Bistro celebrates European flavours, serving favourite dishes from Parisian cafés, Italian trattorias, and Spanish wine bars. Local and seasonal produce takes centre stage in every dish, paired perfectly with a wine list spanning Italian, French, and Australian offerings.

AUGUST

RAISE Rooftop

Brisbane’s newest sky-high escape has landed – meet RAISE Rooftop. Sitting pretty atop 157 Ann Street, this New York-style cafe and events space is serving specialty coffee, artisan pastries, and killer skyline views. By day, it’s your matcha-and-brownie pit stop; by night, it transforms into a slick venue for parties, launches, and sunset cocktails. Created by first-time hospo duo Laura Campion and Alex Afflick, RAISE is part neighbourhood hub, part city escape – and it’s already stealing the spotlight.

So What Stereo, Fortitude Valley

Opened by Kawid Brikshavana, So What Stereo is the newest cafe in Fortitude Valley serving Thai comfort food. Must-try dishes like the Kao Soi or Kao Kai Kon are all inspired by the homecooked meals Kawid grew up eating in Thailand. The space channels retro charm, with mismatched furniture, shelves stacked with vinyl records, and even a film camera Kawid uses to snap photos of diners – developed for you to collect on your next visit.

CHERN, Kenmore

From the team behind Chalong, Chern brings modern Asian-inspired dining to Kenmore. Serving up bold fusion favourites like duck and chive potsticker dumplings, Chern’s wok-fried chicken, and sticky tamarind pork belly, the menu is packed with good food, no fuss. Think big flavours, chilled vibes, and dishes designed to be shared.

Mad Mile, Wynnum

Wynnum’s cafe scene is welcoming a familiar face with a new look. Mad Mile is the latest venture from Dragan and Marija, the duo behind much-loved Dramanti. The hospitality veterans have made a return to the bayside, bringing with them a whole new menu that even features the viral Dubai chocolate French toast. With Ona Coffee on pour and the same warm service, Mad Mile is the new go-to for locals and longtime fans alike.

JULY

Tellus, Petrie Terrace

Tellus, meaning ‘earth’ in Latin, is a testament to culinary artistry and craftsmanship, using natural ingredients to form modern Australian flavours rooted in Latin culture. Expect zesty dishes like jalapeño kingfish crudo with citrus dressing and sweet basil oil to greet your tastebuds, while the aroma of crusty burnt sugar loaf beckons.

JUNE

Idle, New Farm

James St’s cult-favourite bakery is no more – say goodbye to Agnes Bakery and hello to Idle, Anyday’s first-ever cafe. Born during the pandemic and beloved ever since, Agnes is handing over the baton to a bigger, better venue just down the road. Now open in New Farm (right near Merthyr Village), Idle will serve as a bakery, market, and neighbourhood kitchen. The vibes? Still very much for the cool crowd. Our verdict? This might just be Brisbane’s best new cafe.

Hideki, Fortitude Valley

You know Hideki as the moody yakitori joint that made Burnett Lane a late-night favourite — now they’ve launched Hideki 2.0 on James Street. Tucked between Sixes and Sevens and P. Johnson, this new alfresco spot brings sushi, sake, and serious style to one of Brisbane’s busiest strips. It’s cool, low-key, and made for people-watching. Read all about it here.

Winnifred’s, Fortitude Valley

Opening this August in the heart of Fortitude Valley, Winnifred’s Champagne Bar is not your typical inner-city hotspot. It’s a love letter to Champagne in all its nuance and luxury, curated by those who know the difference between a good glass of bubbles and a truly exceptional one. Comprised of a multi-story venue on Arthur Street, Winnifred’s spans across five unique areas, each named after a subregion of Champagne, offering a layered experience that moves from casual drop-ins to full-blown celebrations. Featuring a garden bar, intimate bistros, as well as a large dining room, Winnifred’s will be a place for Champagne lovers to come together and celebrate in a space that’s as sophisticated as it is buzzing.

Queen Amann Bakery, Bowen Hills

Say bonjour to the crown jewel of French bakehouses, coming this week to Bowen Hills. Specialising in the Breton-born ‘kouign amann’ pastry, Queen Amann Bakery is bringing French flair, flaky perfection, and a dash of fashionable drama to Brisbane’s pastry scene. Fashion and travel influencer Larry Lim has teamed up with the masterminds behind Sprout Artisan Bakery to deliver indulgent delights with a modern twist to the King Street community – oui oui!
