If you’re unfamiliar with the Met Gala, it’s a star-studded event whereby guests dress to match the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibit. As arguably one of the biggest fashion events on the calendar, it’s a who’s-who of fashion, beauty and notoriety.

When it was announced that Rihanna, Donatella Versace and Amal Clooney would co-chair this year’s Met Gala, we prepared ourselves for some serious beauty-goals. With the founder of Fenty Beauty, the illustrious head of the Versace Empire, and one of the most graceful women ever joining forces, we’d expect no less than absolute magic.

This year’s theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, had us excited to see which celebs would push the boundaries of fashion and beauty. There were plenty of show-stopping styles, heavenly looks and unique interpretations, and we’re excited to share all of them for your beauty inspiration. We don’t know about you, but we’ll definitely be trying a few of these out this weekend.

P.S If you haven’t been following our Met Gala updates on Instagram make sure you peep our story for all of our favourite looks.

Everyone stop. Go home. We’re done! The Queen of The Met Gala has just been promoted to Pope. With a subtle metallic-pink lip and smoked-out eyeshadow, Rihanna is reminding us just who reigns over the Met Gala.

Amal Clooney

Just-bitten lips, shimmery-but-subtle eyes and an envious ponytail are staples in Amal’s beauty arsenal, and we have to admit, she kills it every time. Achieve the look yourself with YSL Rouge Pur Couture in No. 73.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora’s stunning Prada headpiece reportedly took three days to construct. It’s a work of art that deserves to be centre-stage, and when pared back with sleek, straight hair and a cherry-red pout, is allowed to shine.

Amanda Seyfried

We absolutely adore Amanda’s interpretation of the theme! Those voluminous curls (that we have been obsessed with for a minute) were styled by Christian Wood and her peachy-sweet and gold-tinted makeup is from none other than Katey Denno.

Kate Bosworth

Okay, we’re calling it. Kate Bosworth shut down this year’s red carpet with her angelic, bridal, peach-and-cream look. The look itself is incredibly simple – peachy-nude lip, natural-looking flush and a defined centre-part – however, Kate proves that an understated look can still steal the show.

Lily Collins

A personal favourite, Lily Collins approached the theme with a darker twist thanks to her gothic-inspired look. With a dark smokey-eye, bejewelled eyes and stunning red teardrop, this is a high-impact look we might have to break out for Splendour In The Grass. Hairstylist Gregory Russell slicked her hair back into a braided up-do and added a Lady Liberty-inspired crown for maximum drama.

Jasmine Sanders

Romantic and ethereal, Jasmine Sanders’ floral-adorned braid was a heartstopper. Entwined with gold thread and red flowers, it’s a heavenly look that we’re tipping will dominate this wedding season.

Blake Lively

Blake absolutely slayed this carpet, to no ones surprise. We even have certain Stylers claiming that she is the best dressed of the night! Whether or not this is true, she definitely stole our breath away with that soft up-do and striking headpiece.

Kerry Washington

While sleek styles dominated the Met Gala this year, our girl Kerry proved va-va-vroom volume is always chic. Her stunning-curls were styled by Takisha Sturdivant-Drew who gently brushed out the curls and teased the roots for a style that could reach the heavens.

Bella Hadid

Bella always brings the drama and this year was no different. Her outfit may be one of the best on ground but it wouldn’t be the same without her slicked-back hair, shimmery shadow in the inner corners of her eyes, and the lust-worthy gilded hairpieces.

Olivia Munn

Is it just us or is Olivia Munn radiating some stunning Cleopatra vibes tonight? The gold-chain headpiece and inner-eye jewels are incredibly regal, but her deep-red lips are the perfect finishing touch.

Zendaya is channelling some serious Milla Jovovich-in-Fifth Element vibes thanks to this choppy copper-bob and textured baby-fringe. Add a natural-looking flush and impeccably manicured brows and you’ve got a Joan Of Arc-inspired look that could steal the show.

Ariana Grande

While not a single hair was out of place on the carpet tonight, Ariana Grande is here to remind us who is the real queen of the slicked back pony. While the hairbow is very doll-like, the winged-eyelined that looks sharp enough to cut keeps the look edgy and fresh.

Gigi Hadid

Volume for daayyyssss. When we were finally able to tear our eyes from the gorgeous Versace dress Gigi wore, we were stunned by how equally-beautiful her makeup is. Make-up artist Patrick Ta opted for a nude lip and purple-smokey eye, topped off with silver accents.

Emily Ratajkowski

One of the more wearable makeup looks of the night, Emily’s warm, bronzed-up look will definitely be our go-to this winter. Plus, in that custom Marc Jacobs Gold Lamé gown, she honestly looks like a statue of a goddess.

Amber Heard

Amber is a vision-in-red at this year’s Met Gala and it’s honestly gorgeous. While her deep-plum lips grab our eyes at first glance, a closer inspection shows off the subtle gold glitter around her eyes. Her headpiece is a showstopper in itself, but we love that she slicked back her hair with what appears to be liquid gold. A must-try this racing season.

Diane Kruger

Honestly, if you’re here for race day inspo look no further than Diane Kruger’s look. Styled by Bridget Brager, her golden tresses have been secured in an up-do and pinned behind an intricate Philip Treacy fascinator.

Hailee Steinfeld

Can we just appreciate how gorgeous Hailee Steinfeld is? This young Hollywood starlet has matured so gracefully and we love it. While the tousled, bedhead locks styled by Gregory Russell standout compared to the sleek-look that was the trend du jour, we think she pulls it off effortlessly. Plus, when paired with the understated makeup (courtesy of Mary Phillips) that is her M.O, we’re inspired to try it out for ourselves (crown and all!).

Emilia Clarke

We don’t know what it is about this look, but we honestly can’t wait to try it out. From the brightly-rouged cheeks to the messy-bun & crown combo, the result is dramatic and gorgeous and we are so here for it! We are definitely reaching to our Bobbi Brown blush in Nectar and our NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella this weekend.

Winnie Harlow

Winnie Harlow’s STUNNING white headpiece was showstopping. Her minimalist makeup is delightfully minimal and her lush curls are giving us serious envy, but still. We can’t go past that headpiece.

From the custom-designed halo by Chrishabana Jewelry right down to the Atelier Versace tulle gown and bejewelled boots, SZA dominated the carpet in her candy floss pink look. Makeup artist Samuel Paul opted for a violet smokey-eye and glossy nude lips. The golden tear jewels are just the icing on this Barbie-tutu cake!
