Inside The Makeup Bags Of The Style Editors

Secrets Spilled

By Ella Passfield | 17th July 2025

We’re officially halfway through July and halfway through winter. It’s been a busy month here at Style HQ, and while a quick self-tan helps us fake a summer glow, it’s the beauty and skincare essentials that truly get us through the colder months and keep us looking (and feeling) our best.

So, we asked the team to spill the contents of the beauty bags.

You’ve seen inside our wardrobes, now it’s time to take a peek into the beauty routines, go-to products and winter rituals the Style team swears by.

I know it’s slightly outrageous to drop $80 on a lip balm, but hear me out — the Prada packaging is elite. I’m a sucker for a chrome case, and the formula itself is actually super hydrating. It also evens out your natural lip tone in the best way. I’ve been reaching for it all winter and would 100% buy again. I’ve also recently joined the cult of Augustinus Bader and have been lathering on The Rich Cream before bed, it leaves my skin soft, plump, and perfectly prepped for beauty sleep, and I wake up like a hydrated queen. And for fragrance, I made a quick stop at Le Labo for a fresh bottle of The Matcha 26. It’s subtle but chic, and has officially become my signature scent.

Lately, I’ve been loving: New Aussie skincare label Prime Skin not only has super cute packaging but amazing formulas! I love the Jelly Plump as it doubles as an overnight mask and a makeup remover, which I’ve been using daily. Secondly, my bestie works at HiSmile so I get to try all the goods and their new lip balm range is banging! It’s hydrating, cute to throw in your purse, and tastes so good (a little too good I find myself licking it off – lol). Finally, I’ve started incorporating the Mukti Resurfacing Exfoliant about twice a week into my routine and it really beautiful – gently yet effective.

It’s my life’s mission this winter to stay hydrated and glowing, and my hands are always the first to show signs of the cold – which is why this Glossier hand cream has become my ultimate winter saviour. I’ve also recently discovered new Aussie beauty brand Prime Skin, and their moisturiser has already earned a permanent spot in my routine. The built‑in roller makes applying it every morning feel more elevated than your regular moisturiser. And to top it all off, I’m back into dry brushing, with my trusty dry brush from kit doing exactly what it needs to do: keeping my skin soft and exfoliated.

With all the chill in the air, winter skin has well and truly set in and it’s been rough over here. It’s not often you find a body oil that doesn’t leave you feeling greasy but this Pasama Co Jasmine Saffron Body Oil is just chefs kiss so good (and it smells divine). It’s rare I switch up my skincare routine but this Raaie Enzyme Cleanser was good enough for me to make the first change in over two years and it makes my skin feel so fresh after a day in a full face. On the trend of skincare, I’ve also added Eco Sonya’s Serum of Clear to my routine – I know… shock horror, two changes in less than a month – and I’ve noticed such a huge difference. If you’re an acne prone girly like me, this one is for you.

As a girl who’s battled eczema and sensitive skin forever, I’m all for a holistic beauty moment — and these three products have actually changed my life. The Bespoke Skin Technology serum has my skin glowing, BYREDO Mojave Ghost roll-on lasts all day without irritation, and Imbibe’s choc magnesium powder is the dreamiest, not-too-sweet nighttime treat. Chef’s kiss, truly.

Full transparency, I’m a pretty straight-laced, non-experimental in the beauty department these days, but this Positive Light Liquid Luminizer from Rare Beauty, against all odds, has cut through the noise and snuck its way into my day-to-day rotation. As a self proclaimed low-maintence beauty gal, tinted lip balm is where it’s at for me – one part function, one part fashion, and full-on efficiency – NARS After Glow Lip Balm Duo is my current hyper-fixation. And can’t forget about a bit of Winter sun-safety, the new Mecca To Save Face Satin Finish sunscreen is everything a pale, ginger haired girl like me could ever ask for – it’s silky, smoothing and SPF50!

One thing about me is I never grew out of my Glossier phase. And luckily they’ve kept with the times releasing an elevated version of their signature scent, Glossier You Rêve. Staying with scents, I have also been loving the new Gem deodorant – specifically the vanilla and macadamia one as it pairs perfectly with my perfume. And lastly, saving my skin after all the hot pilates classes is the Tower 28 SOS Spray.

First things first: the Kitsch Dry Body Brush. After a detailed tutorial from my in-house beauty guru (aka my mum) on how to properly dry brush, consider me a convert. I’ll admit, the sensation is a little strange at first, but the results speak for themselves – my skin has genuinely never felt smoother thanks to this little wonder. Next up: the Ouai St. Barts Hair and Body Mist. If you’re after a scent that’ll have everyone asking what you’re wearing, this is it. With notes of dragonfruit, orange, and coconut, it’s basically a tropical holiday in a bottle – and honestly, who couldn’t use a bit of an escape? And finally, the Westman Atelier Mascara. Yes, I’ve officially become one of those people who drops an arguably ridiculous amount of money on a single makeup item – but hear me out. This mascara is worth every cent. It’s the linchpin of my makeup routine and somehow makes everything else feel elevated.
