How to Hide Your New Year’s Hangover

How to Hide Your New Year’s Hangover

By Annabelle Beirne | 21st December 2016

There’s nothing worse than waking up on New Year’s Day and feeling like you can’t get out of bed. You struggle through the day, hoping you won’t run into anyone you know until your headache and red eyes have faded.

Never fear! We have the tips that will have you bouncing out of bed and on to the next occasion to kick off 2017.

1. Hydration preparation

Remember to keep hydrated in the lead-up to New Year’s Eve. You should be drinking at least two litres a day! It will make the chances of incurring a horrific headache much slimmer.

2. Plan ahead

Ensure that you have something to look forward to on New Year’s Day, even if it’s just a BBQ by the pool. If you’ve signed up to an event in advance, you’re 17 times more likely to seize the day!

3. Don’t be alarmed by the alarm

Set an alarm for 10am at the latest on New Year’s Day so you don’t waste the first day of the new year in bed. Let’s not forget that your resolution involves being more active...

4. Late-night makeup wipes

Leaving your makeup on all night long is not good for your pores. Keep makeup wipes on hand to make your life easier and give your face a fresh start in 2017.

5. Magnesium madness

Get your hands on some magnesium citrate powder! It helps the body break down the hangover. You’ll instantly feel better.

6. 1, 2, 3 and brush

Your hair and teeth deserve special treatment after the big night out. Perhaps even muster up the strength to give you hair a good wash and then get the hair-dryer out. Dry shampoo and hairspray could also be an option if you’d like to revive your hairstyle from the night before. Clean hair and teeth are signs of a polished and hangover-free gal!

Although a greasy bacon burger with hot potato fries might hit the spot at the time, you’ll regret it by the next day. Opt for eggs, asparagus and sourdough for brekky. It will give you the nutritious hit that your body requires and motivate you to maintain a healthier lifestyle for the year ahead.

8. Beach fix

There’s no better way to refresh than by diving into open water. A good swim will make you feel like you can take on the year ahead.

9. Electrolytes

Stock up on Gatorade and Hydralytes so you can stay hydrated and ready to tackle the day.

10. Makes scents

Pack perfume and deodorant in your bag and remember to top up throughout the day so you’ll always smell fresh as a daisy.

11. Shady lady

Sunglasses are essential for hiding those droopy eyes. No one will know you only slept for a couple of hours...

12. Plan that #OOTD

Make sure that you’ve planned your outfit for NYD in advance. There’s nothing worse than having to think of an amazing outfit with a heavy head.

13. Moisturise to your heart’s content

Keep your body moisturised to maintain that natural glow.

14. Natural makeup

Keep the makeup to a minimum. BB cream, concealer, illuminating stick and bronzer are all you need.

15. Keep a positive attitude

This is the most essential item for a new year. Don’t leave home without it!
