It’s a new season, which means I need* a whole new makeup wardrobe to complement the autumn trends. Here are the staples to get you through the season on-point.
*Note: may not actually need. May want desperately and use the seasonal tonal change to justify gorgeous purchases.
1. Matte Revolution Lipstick in Birkin Brown in Red Carpet Red, and K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Night Crimson $48, Charlotte Tilbury
Remember when I said dark and moody? Hello, lipstick! These Charlotte Tilbury shades have perfectly captured the autumnal vibe with bold colours. The K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula is great because it’s creamy without being slick and stays put. And matte is just so on-point right now (thanks, Kylie Jenner!).
2. Urban Decay Naked Palette in Smoky $83, Mecca
I’ll have all the Naked Palettes, please! The pigment in UD eye shadow is next-level, so you only need to use a little to make a big statement. And autumn is all about smoky, sultry style so I’m seriously crushing on the colours in this combo.
3. Bobbi’s Cool Eye Shadow Palette $115, Bobbi Brown
This autumn, it’s all about cool tones and moody palettes, which is why this limited edition Bobbi Brown eyeshadow kit is on my must-have list. Apart from the gorgeous colours, the pigment in this baby won’t crease, flake or fade.
4. Blush 2-in-1 Cheek Powder Duo with Kabuki Brush $23, Model Co
When the season changes, so can your skin. That’s why it’s always handy to have two blush tones so you can tie it in to your skin tone. These can also be blended to create even more colours and shades. Plus, sometimes changing up your blush colour is just plain fun.
5. Lancôme Grandiose Mascara $54, David Jones
For looooong luscious lashes this season, you can’t go past Grandiose. Seriously, if eyes are the windows to the soul then this mascara makes on-point curtains to die for.
6. GreatShape Eyebrow Kit, Jane Iredale
What did I ever do without a brow kit? How did I ever let them run free, untamed and filled-in? Jane Iredale uses botanical wax, which holds your brows in place without being stiff or sticky. And the colour of the brow powder is subtle and soft, so you can avoid that whole “don’t talk to me, I’m angry today” look that happens when they are WAY too dark.
7. Dior Poison Girl from $99, David Jones
In the classic shape of the Dior Poison bottle, the fragrance has been worked over and skewed slightly younger than the original iconic scent. It’s a fresher, more vibrant take on a classic and it’s divine.
8. Hourglass Strobe Lighting Powder in Indcandescent $60, Mecca
Oh Hourglass… stop releasing powders or I am going to go broke. I love highlighting almost as much as I love contouring (probably more than my boyfriend, sorry honey). This new range of contouring powders give me such a glow, I almost feel like I need a halo.
9. Chubby In The Nude Foundation Stick $50, Clinique
Despite the ridiculously cheeky name, I am a bit of a chubby stick fan (see, now that just sounds wrong. Thanks, Clinique.) The creamy foundation comes in a range of shades and blends beautifully. Opt for a sheer, light coverage or build up to hide lacklustre trans-seasonal skin.
10. Tarte Tartiest Contour Kit $67, and Brush $48, Sephora
Want to drop a kilo or two in the time it takes you to put on your makeup? Then say hello to the Tarteist slenderising contour palette! And if you’re a little unco when it comes to contouring, the palette even comes with step-by-step instructions on how to sculpt your face to perfection.
