Have You Heard The News? Brooklyn Beauty Bar Now Do Cuts And Colours!

Bring on the next party – the pre is sorted.

Spread the word! Brooklyn Beauty Bar is now doing cut and colour services at their James St salon and we couldn’t be more excited!. We asked Founder Brooke Jesberg why she chose to take the leap into hair.

Why do you feel hair is the right fit for your beauty bar?

Clients come to us for their pre-event makeups and nails but have been asking us for years to do their hair as well. We opened our Blow Dry Bar a year ago to dip our toes in the water and it was a smooth transition, as makeup and up-styling were already a key component of the business. We’ve now gathered a great team of hair stylists and feel it’s the right time to introduce cuts and colours. The demand from our clients to be a one-stop shop has always been a major factor in the business.

What’s different about getting your hair done at Brooklyn?

The biggest difference is the convenience. Our staff have specialised in ‘multi-beautifying’ for years, so whether it’s getting your lashes and manicure done at the same time or makeup and a pedicure, our team has it down to a fine art. There’s nothing worse than sitting in your hair salon for hours and then walking out knowing that you still need to get your brows and spray tan done across town before a big night out. Now, with the addition of cuts and colours, clients only have to visit one salon for all of their hair and beauty needs!

So what's the latest in hair colouring trends?

Our chief colourist has bright yellow hair, but that's a look not everyone can rock. However, colours other than your traditional blonde and brunette and are definitely on trend, and we've had lots of requests for rose gold and peachy hues which are very pretty.  Also, we’ve had heaps of ladies opting to go darker at the root, fading into lighter shades at the ends. This look really enhances soft, messy waves.

Do you have any advice on how to make the most of a hair colour?

Use good products and wash your hair less.  I'm not trying to spruik here, but to get the best results from any hair colour you need to use salon specific shampoo and conditioner - not what you buy at the supermarket.  We use Kevin Murphy products in the salon and our clients love it and tell us that their colours are staying glossier for longer.  Their products are born from the same philosophy as skin care, so I love them.  When searching the world for their ingredients they looked for companies that use micro cultivation, organic growing practices, or ecologically sound wild harvesting techniques to ensure the range is of the highest quality.

Do you have any personal favourite hair products?

I'm super busy and basically have no social life, but on the rare occasion I go out and go to some effort I find the Kevin Murphy KILLER.WAVES product fantastic for enhancing and holding waves.  For day to day, FRESH.HAIR is my lifesaver. It's Kevin Murphy's dry shampoo and is so light and makes your hair smell super fresh.  Love it.
