7 Bizarre Beauty Treatments You Need to Try ASAP

It’s time to treat yo’self!

Whether you’re looking to relax or get results, we take a look at the new-wave beauty treatments worth the fuss.

Also known as Epiblading, this technique owes a lot to shaving and is currently one of the industry’s most sought-after treatments. A razor-like blade is used to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hairs to reveal silky smooth hair-free skin. The quick and painless treatment is the best form of skin exfoliation and allows your skincare to penetrate more deeply.

This hyper-cooling treatment will have you stepping into a freezer-like chamber for three minutes with the temperature safely cooled to about -140°C. Cryotherapy boosts blood flow immediately and is ideal if you’re seeking muscle recovery and repair or injury treatment. It’s also linked to boosting your metabolism, increasing the release of endorphins and flushing toxins from the skin.

This technique creates a controlled skin injury by creating tiny punctures on the skin with a hand-held dermapen device, which stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. By tricking the skin into healing mode, this treatment will see an improvement in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars and stretch marks.

This may just be the closest thing to a facelift without the invasive surgery. Using ultrasound technology, a series of Ultherapy treatments stimulates the skin to produce collagen to naturally lift and tighten the areas that are affected in the ageing process. This treatment requires no downtime and safely assists in achieving a more youthful look.

Although flotation therapy has been around for decades, it’s only recently that it has gained popularity for its deep relaxation results. The concept of floating will see you suspended in a warm flotation tank, which deprives the body of its usual environmental stimulation in order to encourage the body to completely relax.

What would you do if we told you that you could sit down, watch Netflix and burn up to 800 calories? Well, in a normal sauna, 95-97 per cent of the sweat you produce is water. Compare that with the sweat you produce in an infrared sauna: 80-85 per cent is water, while 15-20 per cent is cholesterol, fat-soluble toxins and toxic metals. By flushing out your body’s toxins, the far infrared sauna is designed to help you de-stress and detox.

Not for the faint-hearted, fraxel treatment is the solution for those who have pigmentation, sun damage or stubborn acne scarring that won’t respond to any treatments – but be prepared for some downtime. Fraxel is a laser treatment that penetrates the skin with pin-pricks of heat to create an “injury” below the skin’s surface. By doing this, it stimulates skin renewal in the affected area and will eventually leave you with firm, new skin.
