We’re all ears…
This time of year, besides shopping for last-minute Christmas gifts, there is nothing quite as crucial as planning your New Year’s Eve look. Come NYE, a hard-working product or standout outfit is the ultimate plus-one. Here, influencer and ambassador Kayla Boyd shares the fashion and beauty essentials she swears by to ensure her look will stay flawless long past that midnight kiss.
What products do you use in the lead up to a big event, to ensure you’re looking your best?
“I’ve never been someone to follow a rigorous skin ritual or routine, I have sensitive skin so less is more for optimum results. I have learnt that all I need is a simple cleanser, a deep exfoliator and an oil-free moisturiser. I don’t do masks or chemical peels. The most invasive treatments I do is LED Light Therapy in conjunction with Microdermabrasion and my skin loves me for it.
In the lead up to an event, I swear by Kate Somerville EradiKate Acne Treatment. I put this on any blemishes or spots that I can see appearing to ensure they’re diminished in no time.”
What are some of your favourite beauty products?
“The one beauty product I can’t leave the house without would have to be my YSL Volupte tint-in-balm. It’s super hydrating and gives a glossy finish without the stickiness.
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer – I’m a big believer in prepping your skin to its best for long-lasting makeup wear which is important for me as I now favour applying more of a minimal makeup palette. I also love the fact that it’s a waterproof primer, how good is that!
I am obsessed with everything dewy and anything that gives the ultimate glow! One product I am in love with and can’t live without is the coconut oil based Living Luminizer from RMS. I wear it daily to highlight my face with or without makeup.
My favourite foundation has and always will be Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. It’s light, fresh and dewy, you can apply more to accomplish your desired coverage and it still allows your skin to breathe. For me, it’s the only foundation that doesn’t result in breakouts.
Another must-have product is the Hourglass Arch Brow sculpting pencil (I use warm brunette). I dislike going too dark with brows, I feel this is a common mistake many people make. I used to be a dedicated powder fan for brows, but since converting to this pencil two years ago, it’s the only product I’ll use as it combines the benefits of powder, pencil and wax. The result is a very natural looking pair of brows.”
What will you be wearing to see in 2018 in style?
“It depends what we end up doing, but most likely a slip dress or shoestring-strap dress. You can always wear those styles casually or dressed up.”
How will you be celebrating this year?
“I’m not 100% sure yet. I know I would like to celebrate it with my husband and my daughter. Our lives are so hectic throughout the year and we attend so many events that I feel it would be nice to spend this moment and cherish it with my loved ones. I turned 30 a couple of months ago and I feel like NYE is always so overrated, gone are the days where I used to live for it and be out partying, I’m too much of a lightweight these days.”
