New Year’s Eve is a night to a remember, so let’s make sure we can.
Come December 31, partygoers the world over will be ringing in the New Year, glass in hand. And while I would never object to a celebratory cheers, I am stumped as to why so many of us choose to start the new year in such bad shape.
New Year’s Eve is now synonymous with a wild night, and everyone is expected to stumble through New Year’s Day with a huge hangover. If we’re barely conscious, it’s no wonder we break our resolutions so easily.
It really is possible to experience a semi-sober New Year’s Eve. Here are a few ways to enjoy the night (and the next day) without that headache.
Calling all water babies!
Plan a bonfire with a few breezy beachside brews. Watch the fireworks glow over the water and wake up to the smell of fresh ocean air. You can spend the next day bikini-clad, soaking up the sun – something well worth your semi-sobriety.
Book in for nibbles at a venue with a view. Take a moment to digest the year that’s been (and some delicious food)! Spread your drinks out over the course of the night and snack on a selection of scrumptious canapés. Now that’s a swap we’ll make!
For the music-lover
There’s no better celebration than dancing the night away at a concert. The killer tunes will make you forget all about those cocktails you planned on downing, and I’m sure you’d rather sore feet than a sore head any day of the week!
If you’re in need of a night in, why not host a soiree?
Serve up some tasty treats and enjoy the countdown in the comfort of your own home. No more jostling for a spot to watch the fireworks or being bumped mid-kiss with your S/O – you’ll have all the space you could ever want. And the best part? It’s straight to bed when you’re done. God, are we that old already?
It might be hard to admit, but Mum was right:
There are countless ways to enjoy ourselves in a semi-sober state. While we all love a good drink or two, it’s important to start the year off on the right foot (in other words, hangover-free).
Celebrate in a way that suits your personal style and relish in your newfound sobriety (well, sort of). Make the most of the holidays and don’t waste a minute. New Year’s Day lunch never tasted so sweet!
