Time to put your wallet where your mouth is.
January is the time of year that everyone talks about getting fit. And with 365 days to do it, there really is no excuse not to. Whether your goal is to do a 5km fun run with your best gal pals or take on a marathon, there is no time like the present to get started.
Signing up for an event in advance is great motivation to keep your fitness on track. It will give you a specific date to aim towards and a specific goal to tick off. Paying the entrance fee for the event means you have to put your wallet where your mouth is and splash some cash, which may motivate you to get off the couch when it’s hot as hell outside on a Saturday afternoon. Plus, signing up well in advance and sticking to some sort of training program means you will actually get fit, rather than turning up on the day and hoping the one 5km you run will give you the body of Cathy Freeman.

Triathlon Pink | February 18, 2018
A ladies’ only triathlon offering plenty of different distance options, from short (100 swim/4k bike/1k run) to ultra (600m swim/16km bike/6km run).
Tough Mudder | May 19 & 20, 2018
A muddy obstacle course over 16-20kms. Prepare to get dirty, and more than just a little bit sweaty. If you want to ease yourself in there is also a 9km option!
Brisbane Kokoda | June 2 & 3, 2018
Grab a team of two to four others and take on this 48km overnight bushwalking challenge to raise money for the Kokoda Youth Foundation.
Gold Coast Marathon | 30 June & 1 July
This year will be the 40th annual Gold Coast Marathon. Over the weekend you can compete in the full marathon, half marathon, 10km, wheelchair races, or kids’ races. Known as the flattest marathon around, with an awesome crowd and fabulous views; if you are planning on tackling your first marathon, this is the one to do.
Stadium Stomp | July 29, 2018
A stair climbing challenge at the Gabba stadium in Brisbane. Choose between 5,000 steps or Stomp Unlimited which is as many laps of the 5,000-step course you can do in the day.
Brisbane Marathon | August 5, 2018
Race around the heart of Brisbane at the Brisbane Marathon Festival. Offering marathon, half marathon, 10km walk, or 5km walk.
True Grit | August 11-12, 2018-01-10
An obstacle course set over 10-12kms with 30 obstacles ready to test your strength and fitness.
Miss Muddy | October 13 & 14, 2018
A 5k fun run for the gals! Designed for all levels of fitness with obstacles, inflatables and a whole heap of mud.
R.O.C Race Brisbane | TBC
Huge inflatable obstacle course over 5kms. Awesome obstacles including a four-storey high waterslide. Open to anyone aged over 13.
