From here until Easter Sunday, our eating patterns best resemble a drunk toddler on a chocolate rampage. Lindt balls in the staff room? Have a handful. Adorable miniature chocolates at the supermarket checkout? Grab a couple. Your mum makes a triple-decker chocolate cheesecake with caramel drizzle and a brownie base? Eat three slices. Easter cocktails? Um, yes, please.

What could be better than sipping warm, boozy drinks on the couch while the family battles it out at Monopoly? Easter cocktails are a treat we can seriously get behind.

BOOZY HOT CHOCOLATE

Hot damn, this looks so good right now. Imagine cupping a steaming mug of alcoholic hot chocolate with a blanket tucked around you. Bliss. It’s the perfect way to block out the sound of your family having a heated debate about the merits of pineapple on pizza.

SPIKED COFFEE

So let’s break this down: It’s COFFEE (tick) with RUMCHATA (tick) and WHIPPED CREAM (double tick). Isn’t life just swell? Perfect to drink while cuddling a sleeping puppy (*puppy optional).

HOT TODDY

In 2010, Usher released a terrible R’n’B song that was an ode to this cocktail. Instead of listening to the tune, shuffle to the kitchen and whip up this soothing delight. It’s whisky, English breakfast tea, fresh lemon, spices and honey. Sounds kind of weird, right? Just trust us on this one. Folklore tells us that drinking a Hot Toddy will cure a cold. It’s science, guys.

WARM SPICED APPLE CIDER

Just because we don’t get snow in Brisbane doesn’t mean we have to miss out on aprés-ski delights. This recipe is best prepared in a big batch, so you can have it gently simmering on the stove. Heat it up and dole out servings as required. Plus, you get to legitimately use A LADLE, which is a highly underrated kitchen tool.

PEPPERMINT WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE

Some people like to finish off a hearty meal by sipping on a piping hot cup of peppermint tea. “It’s great for digestion,” they purr. This is kind of the same idea. Except there are marshmallows in it. And white chocolate. So it’s maybe a bit of a stretch, but we’ll claim it anyway. You’ll notice that the recipe doesn’t expressly include alcohol, but you know what to do here
