Other cities are going to wish they were in our shoes: Brisbane is about to welcome a world-first concept bar dedicated to one of our proudest Aussie institutions.
The appropriately-named Shoey bar will open its doors to the public in late June, with the concept designed to celebrate the time-honoured tradition of drinking from a shoe.

Before you ask, no, patrons won’t be asked to drink out of their own shoes. Instead, the bar will offer up cocktails in your choice of stiletto (small) or boot (large) to accommodate every level of thirst.
Details about the launch are still tightly under wraps, but we do have a hot tip on location. According to our sources, Shoey will join the illustrious bevy of cocktail bars already lining Fortitude Valley’s James Street.
Drinking champagne from a lady’s slipper became a symbol of decadence in the early 20th Century, and has since become a popular ritual at parties and festivals in Australia.
