Get your daily caffeine fix on the north side

By Kiri Johnston | 17th June 2016

Need a dose of caffeine to get you through the day? Here are our picks of Brisbane’s best coffee on the north side.

Stalled Espresso, Albion

This wonderful café is an ever-changing space – the fit-out was designed, built, found or repurposed by the owners. It’s a great local spot to relax, meet friends and network with new connections. Choose from two coffee blends, including seasonal featured single-origin roasts.

Vieille Branche, Albion

Nestled in a warehouse of French Antiques and vintage furniture, Vieille Branche serves French-style farmhouse food and Bear Bones Espresso. The grind is a little stronger but still beautifully smooth. They also have French classes, workshops and market days!

Lewin Street Store, Bardon

Tucked away off Jubilee Terrace, Lewin Street Store has a welcoming community vibe. They use organic milk and dairy products from Barambah and sell and serve organic sourdough bread from Leavain that is locally harvested in Bardon. Bring your kids and dogs along and have a cup of delicious Carmelo Glen by Allpress.

Nana and Da’s, Kedron

This cosy, old-fashioned café has a loyal community that is always growing. Sip on a cuppa of their Coffee Supreme, which is smooth without the bitterness. Nana and Da’s aims to provide good quality food and drinks by using locally-sourced fresh produce. All of their food is made from scratch and they cater for gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan dietary requirements. If you need a venue for an event, they are licensed and can cater for you.

Dandelion and Driftwood, Hendra

Offering a delicious quirky breakfast menu of old-school waffles, hot-pressed sandwiches, scones and much more, Dandelion and Driftwood’s mission is to encourage customers to widen their palate experience with award-winning specialty coffees. They roast their own beans just down the road at Wolff Coffee Roasters.

Little Corner Café, Wooloowin

Housed in the old Dickson Street corner store, Little Corner Café is now the hub of the neighbourhood. It’s a great place to bring your dogs and kids along to and enjoy a cup of Genovese coffee to accompany the simple but delicious food menu.

The Tiller Coffee, Alderley

Operating out of a repurposed shipping container, The Tiller Coffee’s seasonal house blend is created by Wolff Coffee Roasters, with other Australian and international roasters used for espresso and filter preparation. They also serve up high-quality teas from Chamellia to complement the small, brunch-style offering.

Espresso Train, Nundah

Established back in 2002, Espresso Train has a great laidback vibe and super friendly staff. They brew fantastic Aromas Premium Organic coffee, which can be accompanied with a bite from their deli-style menu. As if all of the above doesn’t sound good enough, last year they won the Australian Social Enterprise Award, as they create jobs for people with disabilities and from refugee backgrounds who find it difficult to gain employment.

Abode Café, Taringa

Elixir Coffee, Stafford

Quench your coffee cravings at one of Queensland’s most awarded speciality coffee companies. The coffee is roasted fresh on site and is also available for takeaway! Make sure you dine in and try the sweet corn cakes for breakfast or the haloumi stack for lunch from their large flavoursome menu.

Konnigans, Kelvin Grove

Hidden in an industrial area off Kelvin Grove Road, Konnigans offers high-quality food at lower-than-usual prices in a warm and welcoming location. Their stripped-back raw approach extends to their service as well as the food. They use Esproni’s coffee beans and occasionally offer other varieties from around the world. Whether you’re in a rush to find a place to hold a business meeting, meeting up with a significant other for casual coffee or simply taking the dog for a walk, absolutely everyone is welcome at Konnigans.

If you feel like a break from coffee, they make the most delicious hot chocolate with real chocolate flakes on top. You can also visit them on Sundays at the Milton Markets.

Le Caffe, Hendra

If you love coffee and you love cake, Le Caffe is the perfect place for you! Le Cake has been creating delicious handmade desserts for 21 years.
