FOR THE LADIES
The polo is a strictly fascinator-free zone. The key is to dress in a relaxed manner with feminine accents while keeping elegance and fun at the forefront of your mind. When polo season arrives so does a sweltering summer so this occasion is perfect to raise the racing hemlines and get strappy on the tops.
Avoid stiletto heels and opt for wedges or a low block heel mule. For your headwear, stick to straw or wide-brim hats. Dainty crowns are also a good accent to an outfit but don’t be fooled – wearing no headwear is acceptable too.

TIPS FOR THE POLO FROM JENNIFER HAWKINS
A sophisticated feminine approach to dressing for the polo is the way to go – think a mix between dressing for a summer picnic with your friends and elegant smart-casual.
It’s also important to dress for the warm weather so floating summer looks and maxi dresses are great options. Crisp, clean outfits like a gorgeous tailored suit also work well if you’re going for an understated look.
The best tip I can give you is to steer clear of stilettos or you’ll spend the entire day sinking into the lawn! Glamorous flats are a great option, or a gorgeous pair of wedges.
Accessories at the polo are key, and a bold pair of sunglasses can be a fun way to make a statement. I’m also a big fan of a gorgeous wide-brimmed hat. It’s important not to go for headwear that is overly fussy, but something that is a little more casual and protects you from the sun is perfect.

Men should be thinking crisp linen shirts, shorts or chinos and a blazer. If there is any time to whip out a print as a fashion statement, it’s now! When it comes to accessories, panama hats, pocket squares and the perfect face-sculpting sunglasses are your go-to. Brogues and loafers are the ideal shoe choice for many reasons – cool, fashionable, relaxed and elegant.
