Brisbane social stars takeover the city’s fashion capital
To celebrate Style Magazines collaboration with QueensPlaza, we chat with Aicha Robertson of fashion blog, The Fashion Heist, and local entrepreneur and businessman, Benjamin Day, about what they love about spring and QueensPlaza.
What excites you most about collaborating with Queens Plaza?
Aicha: It’s always been my one of my favourite place to shop in the city since I was young. It’s one of Brisbane’s most iconic shopping centers and it’s exciting to showcase my favourites pieces and places to visit there!
Ben: It’s exciting to be the face of such a premier and iconic shopping hub, that I’ve had the pleasure of visiting ever since of was a young teenager.
With the arrival of a new season, where would we find you in Queens Plaza? Do you have a favourite place?
Aicha: I always head straight to David Jones in QueensPlaza. It’s the perfect place to pick up new season pieces – they cover every trend head to toe.
Ben: This season you’ll most likely find me in the Salvatore Ferragamo shoe section, investing in a new pair of shoes for my wedding next year in Greece.
When you need to recharge, where do you go in Queens Plaza for a bite to eat?
Aicha: You will find me in the food court either enjoying a rice paper roll from Roll’d or a Chai Latte from Soul Origin. If I need to get some work done I normally head upstairs to the new seating area they have with iPhone chargers – it’s really nifty and perfect for getting work done on the go!
Ben: I’m a big fan of my Vietnamese rolls from Roll’d. They’ve become a staple in my diet with all the travelling I do, and I just can’t go past the BBQ chicken rice paper rolls!
With spring just around the corner, what do you foresee being one of your favourite trends of the season?
Aicha: Red! I am so in love with mixing red into outfits.
Ben: From what I’m seeing in Men’s fashion it’s the bold prints and patterns. Mixing colours and patterns and opting for a more vibrant colour pallet than what men have been seen wearing in the past.
When you want to treat yourself, where do you go for new season finds?
Aicha: I normally visit David Jones or Witchery, but if I want something a little quirkier than Gorman is my go-to!
Ben: Probably SABA, as they have an incredible collection of staple dresswear that I spend most my days in.
What are some of your favourite new season pieces you’ll find at Queens Plaza?
Aicha: I am loving the new Romance Was Born in David Jones – it’s beyond incredible. Tiffany & Co.’s Hardware Collection is also divine, and I am in love with the ball hook earrings in gold.
Ben: The new beast print cotton sweatshirt from the Burberry Summer Collection is something I’ve been scoping. I’ve been spending more time in the cooler Sydney and Melbourne weather as of late and feel like I can justify the purchase.
In your opinion, what makes Queens Plaza one of Brisbane’s best shopping and lifestyle destinations?
Aicha: It is the perfect shopping destination in the city because you can view the best Australian designers and see some of the most prestigious international labels. From Carla Zampatti to Chanel – Queens Plaza has it all!
Ben: The amazing mix of high-end fashion brands with the ease and accessibility of your everyday trends and brands. It has a “sit down and stay-a-while” atmosphere with their diverse range of activated zones.
