Welcome back, Sass & Bide!
We’ve got some news to send fashion fanatics into a frenzy! The official line-up for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2017 has been announced, and we have a feeling it’s going to put a big smile on your dial.
The festival will run from Sunday, May 14 to Friday, May 19 2017. Local fashion stalwart Dion Lee has been announced as the opening designer, while closing honours will go to perennial favourites, Romance Was Born.
At the event hosted by super-lush Sydney venue Carriageworks, more than 40 local and international designers will be showing their Resort 18 collections during the festival. Sneak a peek at the entire designer line-up here!
In past years, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia has been the launch pad for major designers such as Alex Perry, Toni Maticevski and Collette Dinnigan. This year, the festival hopes to foster young talent such as Anna Quan, who will be wowing crowds at her first solo show after courting major attention in the 2016 NextGen initiative.
It seems as if our local designers are proving to be a major drawcard for the global fashion market, with last year’s Merceds-Benz Fashion Week Australia seeing a 75 per cent increase in international buyers.
Fans of Aussie label Sass & Bide will be thrilled to see the return of the local favourites after a mammoth 14-year absence from MBFW Australia!
Industry insiders can register for tickets here.
For those of us mere mortals who aren’t lucky enough to nab tickets, don’t despair! Jump online to watch your favourite designers on the livestream… champagne definitely recommended!
