We unpack outfit and beauty prep for the world’s most talked about festival in the desert.
As Weekend 1 of Coachella approaches, preparation for festival goers is in full force. If you were stranded in the desert for a long weekend… what would you be sure to take with you? Perhaps that sounded a little dramatic… Nonetheless, outfit and beauty prep can be daunting. Who better to seek inspiration from than renowned Australian designer, Alice McCall.
Her AW18 collection consists of bright pops of colour, intricate detailing, bold sleeves and dresses galore! When planning my outfit (hypothetically), pieces that spring to mind include the Ready, Steady, Go Dress, the Mind Games Dress, the Rainbow City Dress, the Animale Dress and the Frenchie Dress. If you’ve sensed a pattern in my choices already, you’re onto something.
It’s all about the statement dress this season (which makes outfit planning a lot easier in my opinion). Pair your designer dress with neutral Western boots (my personal favourite are Farfetch’s ROCCO P. Cowboy Boots) and a crossbody bag packed with beauty essentials and you’re ready to take on whatever the desert decides to throw at you!
We asked Australian designer, Alice McCall a few questions (fashion and beauty related, of course) in the lead up to the one-and-only Coachella 2018.
If you’re only spending a couple of nights in LA, which hotel would you stay at?
Always love staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel. It’s just so iconic!
Favourite breakfast spot in LA?
The Butcher’s Daughter at Venice Beach.
Day 1 Coachella outfit would be made up of…?
3 Beauty items you’d recommend carrying in your bag?
Eve Lom’s moisturiser with SPF 50, MAC nude lipstick & Lilah B’s face mist from Net-A-Porter.
Oh, let’s not forget the bag itself! Ultimate bag for Coachella would be?
A cross body bag is always great for festivals so something like my JW Anderson Pierce Mini.
Your outfit is not complete without?
A fab pair of shoes – whether it be a pair of kicks or boots. I’ve been loving Farfetch’s buy at the moment.
