This weekend marks the start of a well-deserved Christmas break for many and what’s better than kicking off the festivities than by checking out a number of awesome events this weekend in Brisbane. Here’s everywhere you can wet your whistle, unwind and slip straight into holiday mode.
Family entertainment, pop-up bars, live music, market stalls…What more could you want? Check out the Christmas On Cribb Milton Christmas Markets between 4pm and 10pm on Thursday, December 21. Browse the array of festive stalls, pick up any remaining presents you still need to buy and find all the fresh ingredients you need for your Christmas Day spread.
Head on down to Woolly Mammoth Alehouse and get a taste of their specialty crafted beers, plus a taste of new Melbourne-based talent, Slice n Dice. This dynamic duo blend electro, dubstep and trap to create bouncy beats and killer mixes. With signature masks à la Daft Punk, their secretly guarded identities make these masked crusaders even more intriguing. With tickets at only $18, delve into the world of electronic entertainment.
If you haven’t had a chance to check them out yet, head to the South Bank’s Christmas Village for a dose of festive cheer; open from 3pm – 10pm ’til Saturday, December 23. Wander through stalls selling gingerbread houses, artisan festive cards and delectable Christmas puddings, along with hand-made jewellery, candles and wooden toys. Wear out the kids with a mini train ride, free craft and dance activities, and a visit to Santa (4pm-8pm daily). Plus, each evening at 7pm there will be a 30-minute sing-along carol concert.
Sunlit Sounds Music Festival is back! And it’s not just your typical festival either. This event is the perfect spot for the whole family to enjoy a great line up of bands, food trucks, coffee, cold drinks and local produce. There is even a kids zone for the little ones to explore. What’s even better is that kids can attend for free and adult tickets are only $5 at the gate. With a selection of delicious eats and treats on offer including gozleme, German sausages, French crepes, and a warm, friendly environment for anyone of any age, this gig is a family fun zone.
