Go the Mighty Maroons!
South Bank Cultural Forecourt, Brisbane
Footy fans – rejoice! For the first time ever, the South Bank Cultural Forecourt will be transformed into the ultimate Queenslander Fanzone, for the 2017 Maroon Festival!
This four-day event will see appearances by the current XXXX Queensland Maroons, alongside former rugby greats such as Gene Miles, Brent Tate and Wally Lewis.
The festival will kick-off with ‘Fan Day’ on Sunday 28 May, with players cruising down the Brisbane River to dock at South Bank to meet their fans. From here, players will be on the Queenslander Stage, holding trivia battles and panel discussions.
The jam-packed schedule will continue over the following days, with sporting greats and Olympic heroes arriving to give some words of wisdom to their fans.
Local celebrities from The Block and The Bachelor will be competing for the top prize at a highly-charged ping-pong tournament. The kids won’t be left out, they’ll be entertained by Peppa Pig and the Animals Rock band.
The Waterfront Garden Bar will be open every day of the Maroon Festival, serving up a proudly all-Queensland menu befitting of our local legends. This will definitely be the hot spot to enjoy a few relaxing drinks throughout the festivities.
The Maroon Festival closes on Wednesday 31 May to coincide with Game 1 of the 2017 Holden State of Origin Series. Come down from 4pm-10pm to watch the game live on the big screen in a family-friendly atmosphere. Entry to all events is totally free!
