Celebrate the iconic day like never before!
Gasworks Precinct, Longland Street, Newstead, Queensland, Australia
January brings with it one of our nation’s most iconic celebrations: Australia Day. This year, Gasworks Plaza in New Farm will play host to its first Australia Day Seafood Festival, because Australia Day wouldn’t be complete without seafood.
Taking place on Thursday, January 26 2017, the Seafood Festival will kick off at 11am with the Reef Seafood + Sushi pop-up that will serve delicious dishes and drinks ’til late in a complete dining area in the Gasometer.
Free entertainment including face painting, activities, games and more will be carried out throughout the day for the whole family to enjoy.
The Australia Day Seafood Festival is also listed as an Official Triple J Hottest 100 Party with the countdown starting from 11am. Be sure to grab a beanbag or bring along your favourite picnic chair or rug to kick back and relax while listening to best songs of 2016.
From 2pm onwards the (crowd favourite) official Australia Day competitions will commence. Some of the competitions include prawn-peeling, watermelon-eating, a lamington fund and the best-dressed Australia Day costume. Put your hand up for some good Aussie fun in the sun and have the opportunity to come away with some truly fabulous prizes from the Gasworks Plaza retailers.
Then, at 7:15pm watch the Gasworks come to life with Gasometer Light and Sound show.
